Electronic Media Communication’s Robert Jasso was honored spring 2013 by the 75th Congress of the Student Government Association with the John T. Bragg, Sr. Distinguished Service Award. Its purpose is to recognize an MTSU faculty or staff member who has made a significant contribution in service. The recipient of this award has $1,000 in books donated in his or her name to the James E. Walker Library.
Those who nominated Jasso spoke highly of his hands-on classroom approach, his vast knowledge and background in the business, and both his advising and mentoring relationships with students. On the first day of class, Jasso says that his office has “a couch if you’re tired, a Zen garden if you’re stressed and a tissue if you need to cry about something,” and that open-door policy is one of the many reasons Jasso is so loved by his students.
