WMOT Program Director and MTSU alumnus (’83) Greg Lee Hunt was presented with the Nashville Jazz Workshop Heritage Award at the annual fall Jazzmania jazz party and fundraiser, held at The Factory in Franklin.
The Heritage Award is presented annually to someone who has been an influential figure in the jazz community, for the Nashville Jazz Workshop and for the city as a whole. This person has promoted excellence in jazz and has contributed to the rich legacy of jazz in Nashville. Hunt has been WMOT’s music and program director since 1989 and is the only non-musician to win the award.
WMOT is MTSU’s 100,000-watt public radio station. Founded in 1969, the station serves Middle Tennessee with classical, jazz and Americana music, plus news, talk and MTSU sports programming. WMOT’s line-up includes programs such as NPR’s All Things Considered, MTSU’s On the Record and PRI’s The World. Tune in on 89.5 FM or online at wmot.org.
