The Nashville Association of Talent Directors (NATD) recently honored College of Media and Entertainment graduate and Wall of Fame member Steven Lassiter during the organization’s annual November gala.
“This is truly a humbling honor, and I appreciate NATD for bringing us all together to raise money for scholarships and support our friends in business,” Lassiter said.
Lassiter is a 1982 graduate of the Department of the Recording Industry. He began his career as a production assistant and promotor for the renowned Sound Seventy Productions while he was still at MTSU. After graduation, he moved into the talent field, working with several agencies before settling in the WilliamMorris Agency’s Nashville office. He remained with William Morris for 12 years, then joined the Agency of the Performing Arts (APA) Nashville office in 1998. Lassiter is now senior vice president and partner of APA and serves as agent for several country stars and groups.
For the past five decades, NATD has served as an idea exchange for Nashville-based entertainment industry professionals to develop local close-knit relationships. Members have created the College of Knowledge program where scholarships are awarded and industry experts speak to college students interested in the entertainment industry. Past honorees include Charlie Daniels, who established a student scholarship with the MTSU Department of Recording Industry in 2013, as well as George Jones, whose wife, Nancy, established a scholarship fund for MTSU also in 2013.
