Neeko Crowe wins Match Records’ Battle of the Beats

MTSU’s student-run Match Records hosted a Fall 2015 Battle of the Beats competition in November. The label carefully selected 11 contestants from numerous entries to participate in this year’s contest. Each contestant was given 60 seconds to impress a panel of music industry judges including well-known producer G Money (Wiz Khalifa, Sean Paul, Gucci Mane), Grand Hustle Records recording artist Big Kuntry King and hip-hop producer Sean Giovanni.

The battle was set in bracket format eliminating the beat makers one by one based on the panel of judges’ opinions. Beat Battle winner Neeko Crowe received the first-place trophy, a gift card and a year’s worth of bragging rights. Other impressive contestants included Michael Wilkins, who finished second, OG Scribb, EMPVRK, Sterfry, Burnie Amsterdam, Tristan Thompson and Teflon. All the contestants received a certificate of participation and a Match Records snapback hat.
