First Look again highlights EMC students’ work

First Look 2016 logo on whiteMedia professionals, students, faculty and alumni gathered on Tuesday, May 3, at the Regal Green Hills Cinema in Nashville to view a compilation of this year’s best student work in the Department of Electronic Media Communication.

The annual First Look featured award-winning documentaries, live sports, music videos and animation montages produced by EMC students during the summer and fall semesters of 2015 and the spring 2016 semester. Official selections were announced on April 30.

The annual showcase is the brainchild of EMC Assistant Professor Tom Neff, who ran a similar program while earning his M.F.A. at the University of Southern California. EMC Chair Billy Pittard emceed the presentation and hosted a catered reception following the screening. This year’s event also included a display of student photography and an exhibit of student-produced New Media projects.
