Dr. Katie Foss published her second book this summer.
Breastfeeding and Media: Exploring Conflicting Discourses That Threaten Public Health is a study of more than 200 years of media coverage and depictions of breastfeeding, highlighting how news, entertainment and online media undermine health messages about breastfeeding, place responsibility on individual women, and ignore the breadth and diversity of breastfeeding mothers and experiences.
Foss is an associate professor in the School of Journalism and has also written Television and Health Responsibility in an Age of Individualism, published in October 2014.
