Hannah Park receives Ed Kimbrell teaching award

The School of Journalism honored Dr. Hannah Park with its top teaching award during the 2018 Wall of Fame Ceremony on April 20.

Park, an assistant professor in public relations, accepted the Ed Kimbrell Excellence in Teaching Award from journalism school director Dr. Gregory Pitts. The award is given annually to a journalism faculty member who exhibits exemplary performance and contributes significantly to the school. The award is named after Dr. Edward Kimbrell, the inaugural dean of the College of Mass Communication (now Media and Entertainment) and founding chair of the Department of Mass Communication.

Park teaches courses in communication, including Public Relations Principles, Case Studies, Strategic Communication Research, and Advertising/Public Relations Campaigns (a capstone class) since 2012. Before joining the MTSU School of Journalism faculty, she taught public relations and mass communication courses at the University of Florida in Gainesville and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, South Korea.

Her research interests include corporate communication and corporate social responsibility, crisis management, nonprofits and philanthropy, public relations and relationship management, and social media. Her research work has appeared in the Journal of Marketing Communications, Korean Journal of Advertising, Korea Observer, PRism, Public Relations Journal, Public Relations Review and Review of Public Administration and Management. She also presented her research papers at national conferences in the U.S. and South Korea.

Park was also recently recognized with the 2017-2018 Outstanding Experiential Learning (EXL) Faculty Award and the 2018 Undergraduate Research Experience and Creative Activity (URECA) Summer Team Award.
