LAS VEGAS — Chair of the Department of Recording Industry Beverly Keel helped lead an Academy of Country Music event in Las Vegas April 6 about the lack of gender equity in country radio.
About 300 people gathered at Change the Conversation’s event on Tuesday, Jan. 22, to hear nationally known journalists Ann Powers, Jewly Hight and Marissa Moss explore issues of gender inequality in country music and the media.
The Department of Recording Industry’s Songwriting concentration, headed by Assistant Professor Odie Blackmon, received a second $10,000 grant from the Academy of Country Music Lifting Lives Foundation.
