Beverly Keel, chair of our top-ranked Department of Recording Industry, will take the reins of the university’s College of Media and Entertainment as its new dean, University Provost Mark Byrnes announced to campus on Oct. 23.

 LAS VEGAS — Chair of the Department of Recording Industry Beverly Keel helped lead an Academy of Country Music event in Las Vegas April 6 about the lack of gender equity in country radio.

About 300 people gathered at Change the Conversation’s event on Tuesday, Jan. 22, to hear nationally known journalists Ann Powers, Jewly Hight and Marissa Moss explore issues of gender inequality in country music and the media.

For the fifth straight year, MTSU Department of Recording Industry Chair Beverly Keel was honored with a Women in Music City Award from The Nashville Business Journal and also offered words of inspiration in keynote remarks at the dinner celebrating all of this year’s honorees.

MTSU’s Department of Recording Industry is once again ranked in Billboard magazine’s “15 Best Music Business Schools in 2017.”

Beverly Keel wants to change the conversation about women in country music, and her recent public sit-down with country music powerhouse Reba McEntire is evidence that she is helping to do just that.
