College of Media and Entertainment graduates and former students are back in the headlines again with recognition for their music-industry work in multiple genres on the highest level: nominations for the 62nd annual Grammy Awards.

Seven talented MTSU alumni are nominated for Grammys this year in the categories of rap, gospel, American roots and country.

MTSU’s Department of Recording Industry has two more alumni Grammy nods to add to its already impressive list.

MTSU’s GRAMMY contenders didn’t bring home the statues this year, but they — and the university — continue to make a big impact on the entertainment industry.

Stacy Merida is a Recording Industry assistant professor of music business and the faculty adviser to Match Records, the student-run record label. She joined Recording Industry in 2012 as a full-time lecturer.

MTSU honored Alicia Warwick, executive director of The Recording Academy’s Nashville chapter, at a Feb. 7 event in downtown Los Angeles as part of the university’s second-annual outreach during the GRAMMY Awards.

One song carried the message of GRAMMY gold for a pair of former MTSU students on Feb. 8.
