Student journalists from Middle Tennessee State University won nine awards in the Best of the South competition at the Southeast Journalism Conference on Feb. 19, including four first-place finishes in several of the most competitive categories.

About 40 College of Mass Communication students, faculty and staff braved the heat and rain for the opportunity to promote 24/7 coverage of the 2015 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

MTSU students brought home 12 certificates from the Southeast Journalism Conference awards held in Atlanta, Feb. 26 through 28.
