It went live 50 years ago today as a student-run “educational radio station,” and MTSU’s WMOT-FM Roots Radio 89.5 is still focusing on informing its audience about great music and local, national and international news.

WMOT-FM Roots Radio 89.5 threw its first birthday party on Saturday, Sept. 16, in downtown Nashville during the 2017 Americana Music Festival and Conference.

The college’s faculty, staff and students were an integral part of two college-sponsored events that celebrated the “Great Tennessee Eclipse” on Monday, Aug. 21.

WMOT-FM, Middle Tennessee State University’s public radio station, is dramatically expanding its reach and range of music to launch a new format dedicated to Americana music and a new home on the dial for its current jazz format.

The Bragg Media and Entertainment Building’s Main Street was buzzing the morning of March 22 as a record number of music companies participated in the Department of Recording Industry’s annual Career Fair.

Mass Comm’s main street was packed the morning of April 7 with booths from multiple music companies – Sony/SATV Music Publishing, Music City Roots and SESAC, just to name a few – for Recording Industry’s annual Career Fair.

Two advanced College of Mass Communication classes recently shot Music City Roots, Live from the Loveless Café in Nashville.
