College of Media and Entertainment students and faculty got some behind-the scenes instruction at rehearsals before the April 7 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS — Chair of the Department of Recording Industry Beverly Keel helped lead an Academy of Country Music event in Las Vegas April 6 about the lack of gender equity in country radio.

MTSU’s Department of Recording Industry is back on Billboard’s semi-annual list of the nation’s top music business schools, once again joining its counterparts at Berklee, UCLA and New York University as standouts in educating the next generation of music industry pros.

MTSU alumnus Pete Fisher left his executive position with the Grand Ole Opry Jan. 30 to become CEO of the California-based Academy of Country Music.

The College of Media and Entertainment celebrated this year’s GRAMMYs in Los Angeles alongside some of the music industry’s top players with three days of activities that profiled its nationally recognized Recording Industry program.

MTSU honored Alicia Warwick, executive director of The Recording Academy’s Nashville chapter, at a Feb. 7 event in downtown Los Angeles as part of the university’s second-annual outreach during the GRAMMY Awards.

Beginning in Fall 2014, music industry majors at MTSU will have a chance for financial assistance that pays homage to country music legend Charlie Daniels.
