On Sept. 8, an hour-long screening of The Vietnam War, a documentary film by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, preceded a panel discussion and Q&A on the impact of journalism and war coverage during the Vietnam War.

School of Journalism Associate Professor Leon Alligood was inducted into the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame on Aug. 15 at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro.

The movers and shakers in the Nashville journalism community were out on Super Tuesday to welcome Michael Anastasi, the new executive editor of The Tennessean, during a reception held at the First Amendment Center in Nashville.  

To prepare its students for successful careers in an ever-changing media landscape, the College of Media and Entertainment has launched a “teaching hospital” approach to journalism that focuses on mobile storytelling about issues facing millennials.

Tennessean country music writer and College of Media and Entertainment alumna Cindy Watts was awarded the 2015 Country Music Association (CMA) Media Achievement Award on Nov. 4 prior to the start of The 49th Annual CMA Awards. Former MTSU student Chris Young presented Watts with her statue. 

Students and faculty from MTSU’s College of Media and Entertainment contributed in a number of ways to the success of the 16th annual Americana Music Festival and Conference in Nashville.

It has been a very busy and productive fall semester for the Music City Project, an offshoot of the Seigenthaler News Service from the John Seigenthaler Chair of Excellence in First Amendment Studies.

Meg Downey, recently retired managing editor of The Tennessean, and Andrew Maraniss, partner in McNeely, Pigott and Fox, shared the podium for the second annual “PR vs. Journalism: Five Things I Hate about …” debate on Tuesday, April 8.
