WMTS’s The Justin Reed Show is one of the nation’s top five live-music collegiate radio shows.That’s according the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System, which recognized Reed and his Music City style at the organization’s 74th annual awards presentation in New York City in March. While Reed didn’t take home the Golden Microphone Award in the category of “Best Live Music,” he was among the top contenders. “I was given the first trophy after the winner, so I am deeming it as second in the nation,” Reed quipped.
The Justin Reed Show is among the top radio shows in Murfreesboro and the surrounding area. Each week, classic country and bluegrass music is played right along with interviews and live performances from some of country music’s biggest stars. Previous guests on The Justin Reed Show include: Jimmy C. Newman, Jan Howard, Jim Ed Brown, Bill Anderson, Jesse McReynolds, Rhonda Vincent, Darrin Vincent, Billy Henson, Pete Fisher, Andrew Pope, Guy Gilchrist and Ralph Emery, among others. The Justin Reed Show airs live every Thursday morning from 7 to 10 a.m. on 88.3 FM WMTS.
The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System is an organization that assists high schools and colleges with their radio stations. Each year, disc jockeys submit audio samples of their show for consideration. The award ceremony will be in March in New York City.
