Media Arts Productions, MTSU’s student-run live television production team, covers multiple sporting events throughout the year. The team recently won “Outstanding Live Game Production” in the Collegiate Student category at the College Sports Media Awards in Atlanta for its ESPN3-aired coverage of the men’s basketball game between Middle Tennessee State University and Florida International.
The segment also received an Award of Excellence at the 2017 Broadcast Education Association’s On-Location Creative Competition.
Bob Gordon, assistant professor in multi-camera television production and the faculty adviser for Media Arts Productions says the 2017 schedule “includes live coverage of MTSU Women’s Volleyball for BeIN Sports on Sept. 22, the MTSU/Bowling Green football game for ESPN3 on Sept. 23 and MTSU Women’s Soccer for BeIN sports on Sept. 24.”
Media Arts Productions is the university’s varsity team for live TV-event production. Students compete for positions on the team, and just like athletics teams, they must work and practice to develop their skills. For more information on the Department of Media Arts, please click here.
